I finally made it to Hollywood! As someone who is crazy about old movies and film history, I had to do some sightseeing, and seek out some of the final resting places of the stars. I went to Hollywood Forever, which is the burial site of both stars and Hollywood scions, from director William Desmond-Taylor to Judy Garland, to Rudolph Valentino and Peter Lorre.
The cemetery itself is nestled behind a high gate, and it's impossible to tell from the street just how expansive it is. (My Lyft driver was so surprised it was there that he decided to tour it also after he dropped me off.) I bought a map at the gift shop and marked out the graves I really wanted to visit, then started out on a (rather hot) trek through the grounds. It really was like a well curated park, with peacocks running around and cats lounging in the grass.
